Tushirikiane Development Organization (TUDO) is a community-rooted NGO established in 2005 and formally registered in 2021. Working in Dadaab Sub-County, Garissa County, we partner with host and refugee communities to advance food security, education, protection, health, and humanitarian response. Our programs align with the Sustainable Development Goals, combining local leadership with accountable systems to deliver practical, measurable impact.

Our Journey

2005: Community-Based Beginnings
Tushirikiane Development Organization was established as a Community-Based Organization (CBO) in Dadaab, responding to urgent local needs in food security, education, and community protection. The organization was built on grassroots participation and local leadership.

2005–2020: Expanding Community Impact
Over the years, TUDO strengthened its presence across host and refugee communities, implementing school feeding initiatives, awareness campaigns, and livelihood support programs. Community trust and volunteer engagement formed the foundation of its growth.

2020: Emergency Response During COVID-19
During the COVID-19 pandemic, TUDO distributed PPE valued at Ksh. 500,000, reinforcing its commitment to public health protection and rapid humanitarian response in times of crisis.

November 2021: Official NGO Registration
TUDO transitioned from a CBO to a formally registered Non-Governmental Organization, strengthening governance structures, accountability systems, and compliance with Kenya’s regulatory framework.

2022–Present: Structured, SDG-Aligned Programming
Today, TUDO delivers integrated programs aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, including therapeutic nutrition support, school feeding programs reaching over 5,000 children, SGBV awareness initiatives, and emergency food assistance to vulnerable households.
